If you’re seeking an authentic, local beer and culinary experience in Prague, you’ve come to the right place. Czech people consume the most beer in the world, and a visit to Prague just wouldn’t be complete without touring the beer halls that the Czech Republic is famous for!
While savoring the beer that Prague is famous for, you’ll be in awe as your tour guide tells you tales about the country’s historical events and the Czech lifestyle, spanning from medieval times to the present day. When you arrive at the starting point of the tour – at the statue of Saint Wenceslas, at the top of Wenceslas Square (Václavské náměstí), you will be standing at a place where many historical events have taken place, such as various demonstrations against the totalitarian regime. The demonstrations on this large square led to the end of Communism during the Velvet Revolution of 1989.
We’ll leave this historic place and take a tram to Vinohrady, where we’ll visit a quaint beer cellar with garden. You’ll have your choice of 27 Czech microbrewery beers – that’s right – 27! Why not sample the pickled sausage here as well? Czechs think it goes well with their beer. This beer snack here ranks among the best in the city.
Your guide will decide where to go to next. It depends on which pub is serving the best beer and which beer hall has the best musical accompaniment, among other things. The guide will choose the best place for you to savor this experience and adventure.
Then it’s time for a ride on the Metro. Our destination is the Old Town, the pub
where the first Pilsner Urquell beer was offered back in 1843. Sampling this Czech beer is an unforgettable experience, and you will learn all about the significance of Pilsner Urquell beer, about the great impact it has had on Czech culture. That’s not all. The beer will come from a tank rather than a keg, which means that the beer contains less CO2. This factor makes the beer taste even better. Of course, your eloquent guide will recount more tales about Prague and the city’s relationship to beer while you are seated in this unique location, situated on the site of a former church.
How was Pilsner beer born? Your guide will answer this question and provide you with much more information about the Pilsner type of beer. Furthermore, you’ll sample a traditional Bohemian culinary delight – finely smoked pork neck with homemade potato pancakes and white cabbage. After that, we’re off a fairly new brewery pub near Old Town Square, and that’s where our beer adventure ends. You will receive a map of Prague’s renowned pubs, so you can take some time to visit other beer halls in the city on your own.
Come with us, and savor unforgettable, unique Czech beer on an exciting adventure that is perfect for your stay in Prague.
