First, we will take you on a two-hour tour around the historical center of Prague as you follow in the footsteps of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, a classical music composer and genius who enjoyed visiting Prague and was inspired by the city. We will visit St. Nicholas Church, where Mozart practiced on the organ. You will also learn about other leading classical music figures who either lived in Prague or visited the city. These include composers Bedrich Smetana and Antonin Dvorak. You can either book the Mozart dinner with or without the city tour.
Savor the romantic sounds of arias and duets by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and enjoy a three-course meal by candlelight in the Neo-Baroque ballroom of a five-star hotel. This classical music concert is performed by much acclaimed Czech opera singers. Take a step back into the 18th century, when Mozart lived, as the musicians don period costumes and the food harkens back to Mozart’s time. The sounds of pieces from “Don Giovanni,” “The Marriage of Figaro” and “The Magic Flute” will soothe you as you whet your appetite with Tyrolean dumplings and Viennese onions plus cake with nougat and apple pie. If those dishes do not appeal to you, why not try beef confit in lard with strong whole-grain mustard sauce? Or stalk celery and apple salad with smoked pork, hok strips and wine vinegar?
Located in the renowned Franz Josef Restaurant in Old Town’s Grand Hotel Bohemia, the concerts could not take place in a more superb atmosphere. The Boccaccio Ballroom seeps with Baroque features just as it did when it was built in 1925 due to restorations. Artificial marble, exquisite wall decoration and paintings as well as gilded statues of cherubs make this the perfect place to listen to music by one of the best composers in history. Nearby Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” premiered in 1787, at the Estates Theatre, as Mozart conducted the opera himself. Do not forget to look down – the parquet floor is original. Each cassette contains nine different kinds of oriental wood.
Opera artists Terezie Svarcova and Daniel Klansky have ample experience in their field. A teacher at the International Conservatory in Prague, Svarcova has performed in her homeland as well as in Germany, Austria and Italy and spent five years as a soloist in the Moravian Theatre of Olomouc in central Moravia. Baritone Daniel Klansky, the son of renowned pianist Ivan Klansky, has made a name for himself throughout Europe, too. Performing between courses of dinner, the Quintet Amadeus Prague will astound you with music not only from “The Marriage of Figaro,” “Don Giovanni” and “The Magic Flute” but also “A Little Night Music” and “Salzburg Divertimento.”
